More yard work. . .

Last year Mom and Dad spruced up my cottage by planting some flowers and such. It was so pretty that folks asked if I was planning to sell my house. One of the plants is pictured below. Not only did I keep it alive, it is much bigger and this year repotted in a red pot. Nice, huh?

This is the hydrangea they planted. Dad asked how it was doing. So Dad, here you go. I think it is a keeper. You can even see where more blooms will be blooming. Eciting!

And this picture if the flower box I did all by myself. This is here, just because I'm proud of myself.

Yard work . . .

The landscaping in my neighborhood is lovely, a perfect setting for my Carolina Cottage. However, there is always room for improvement. You can see my unattractive AC unit from the street and the back corner of my house is a dirt pit. Additionally, the grass in the back doesn't seem to grow very well.

Solution? A bit of yard work! (Not by me, I hired someone.) Check out the before and after photos.

The side of my house with the AC unit - Before

The new bed includes two camilla plants that will flower with red blooms and a gardenia. The hydrangea was planted last year by my parents and fortunately, I've managed to keep it alive.

Here is the scary back corner - Before

The after include shale rock and hostas.

The back of my house in its grassless state (of course the part missing the grass is up against the house and you can't see it in the photo) - Before

The area now has a shale and stone path and a french drain to stop water from running down the side of my house. I love even more grass from this yard renovation, but my hope is next year it will be back. And, make the path pop even more.

The view from deck, which by the way was restained and painted as part of this project.

And finally, I just added this photo of my gardenia plant because I love the white blooms.

Do you see it. . .

. . . well, do you?

 How about a close up?

That's right, a peacock!

My first lawn ornament and it goes perfectly with my Carolina cottage.

XOXO. . .

The 29 days in February have come to a close and we couldn't let the month go by without a post to our family and friends who love us despite our imperfections.

How wonderful it is to have family and friends who love you!

Those of us living in North Carolina are truly grateful this day for each and everyone of you. We've had several moments throughout the month when we've felt your care and concern and friendship.

Below is one of those moments. . .

(This, along with a doggie toy, was left for Griffin on Valentine's Day. The boy loves his walks and he loves those who love to walk with him! Thanks, Evey, Liv and Steph)

Sittin' pretty. . .

This post is for Krista. She wanted to see my new grown up couch. Well Sis, here it is. The larger section on the end is called a cuddle corner. What really matters to me is that you can actually stretch out on the couch. Something you couldn't do with the loveseat. Now, you just have to come visit so that you can experience its comfort yourself.
