Grandma Mavy and Grandma Carolee made a two week visit to Durham, NC to visit daughters, granddaughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. While they were here, they went to the movies, soccer games, gymnastics, out to dinner. They played games, made jam and many good conversations were had.
Darcy and Kellie took the "Grandmas" (a term the group liked to call them) to Asheville, NC to visit Biltmore, a beautiful estate owned by the Vanderbilts. The home is amazing and looks for more like a European castle then a Smokey Mountain Home. The house features an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley, crazy huge dinning room, lots of guests rooms and a pretty awesome library. It took about two and half hours to tour the place.

The view of the
Biltmore from the back yard. No kidding, that is what they call this angle.

We visited the conservatory and found many beautiful plants and flowers and fountains.

More of the conservatory.

After the conservatory we head to the stables for a
carriage ride. We saw wild turkeys, birds of all sorts and trees, trees, trees.

Here is all of us on the carriage. The horses were named after country music stars. I believe one was named Waylon and the other...sorry, it just escaped me.

Of course no visit to the Smokey Mountains is complete without a rain shower. The pictures of the trip ended here. I think it was because we didn't take photos of the inside of the house, which is what we did after this. Or, it could be cause we looked like drowned mice. Or, it could be because I forgot to take pictures. Either way, it was good fun.
Grandmas, be sure to come see us again.
